To keep a relevant and up-to-date collection, we weed our shelves on an on-going basis. Our goal is to complete one-third of the weeding in a year. Items are evaluated based on the MUSTY principle. Weed titles that are or have these characteristics::

Weeding is necessary for collection develpment. It allows us to plan for and purchase new titles that meet current and future curricular needs and student personal interest. In addition, building the nonfiction collection based on the Maryland College and Career Readiness Standards.
